One of Iowa’s representatives on the Republican National Committee says Mitt Romney didn’t do enough to motivate conservatives within the party. Republican National Committeewoman Tamara Scott also rejects the idea the GOP must moderate its message to win future elections, like dropping opposition to same-sex marriage.

“We hear that we should move away from the social issues every time we face something like this and frankly marriage out-polled Romney. Even in the states where marriage lost, it out-polled Romney,” Scott says. “…We need to just stick with our base of our party instead of giving on our base every time we come up with something of a controversial issue.”

And according to Scott, one reason President Obama was able to overwhelmingly win urban areas in Iowa is because that’s where universities are located.

“Johnson County, our most liberal area…because of the University of Iowa. We know wherever those educational institutions are our children — our students — are being indoctrinated, not just educated, but indoctrinated in very anti-constitutional practices and very anti-American historical practices,” Scott says. “We know that there’s revisionist history in the schools.”

Scott supported Michele Bachmann in the 2012 Iowa Caucuses. This fall Scott served as co-chair of the campaign which unsuccessfully targeted Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Wiggins’ bid for retention because of Wiggins’ participation in the 2009 court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage in iowa.

Scott made her comments during taping of the “Iowa Press” program which will aired Friday night and will be rebroadcast Sunday at noon on Iowa Public Television.
