The Iowa Hawkeyes will play Wichita State in the championship game of the Cancun Challenge this evening. Freshman Mike Gessell had 19 points and the Hawkeyes led the entire way in a 63-55 victory over Western Kentucky.
Gessell says they did a great job of attacking the defense, especially when they attacked, as they went right back at it. Gessell says tonight’s championship contest against Wichita State will be a tough test.
“They are are very good team, they have a pretty good history of making some runs in the tournament,” Gessell says. He says they are a physical team and it should be a good matchup.
Iowa is now 5-0.
