The Iowa Hawkeye women outscored 12th ranked West Virginia 54-38 in the second half enroute to a 79-70 victory in the FIU Thanksgiving Classic. Iowa cashed in at the foul line. The Hawkeyes connected on 42 of 50 for the game, including 27 of 30 in the second half, and Jamie Printy connected on a record 17 of 17 from the stripe.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says they thought playing them on a neutral court would give them an opportunity to get a win and she says Printy’s free throw string was a remarkable effort. Bluder says it was a big win for the Hawkeyes who had dropped the tournament opener to Florida International.

Bluder says they needed a close win down the stretch after losing the opener. Printy finished with 19 points as did Morgan Johnson as the Hawks improve to 5-2. Next up for the Hawkeyes is a trip to Florida State on Wednesday night for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
