Dozens of jobs will be lost in central Iowa with the shutdown of a manufacturing research facility. Officials with Electrolux Home Products announced Tuesday it will close its laundry products research and development center in Webster City.

The closing will take effect during the third quarter of 2013. It will mean 80 people will be without work. Electrolux announced the jobs at the Webster City center will be moving to Charlotte, North Carolina including engineering, product design and testing.

In March, 2011, Electrolux Home Products closed its washer and dryer manufacturing facility in Webster City after 75 years in business and left 500 people without jobs.

The company transferred its operations to Juarez, Mexico.
