A Mason City man who transported two boys across state lines so he could sexually abuse them has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in a federal prison. Thirty-one-year-old Michael Goodale was convicted by a federal jury back in July of aggravated sexual abuse, interstate transportation of minors for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual activity, and accessing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say evidence at his trial showed that between 2008 and September of 2011 that Goodale performed sex acts with two boys aged nine to 13, in both Iowa and Minnesota. Goodale was also accused of viewing child pornography on a laptop computer in 2011.

U.S. District Chief Judge Linda Reade sentenced Goodale to the life prison term on Thursday. There’s no parole in the federal judicial system.
