Authorities have now confirmed the two bodies found in a Bremer County park last week are that of two missing girls from Evansdale. Five days after hunters made the discovery in the Seven Bridges Wildlife Area near Readlyn in Bremer  County, authorities confirmed Monday they are the bodies of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook.

The two cousins were last seen on July 13th riding their bikes in Evansdale. Evansdale Police Chief Kent Smock said the families of the girls have been notified. Investigators spent three days combing the park area for evidence in the case.

A full report is expected to be forwarded to law enforcement. Officials with the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny have concluded the autopsies of the remains, but results have not been finalized.
