Second-ranked Michigan outscored Iowa 17-6 to close the opening half then raced away to a 95-67 Big Ten victory on Sunday in Ann Arbor.

“We weren’t as tough as we needed to be,” Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said. “…We were tough for the first 15. We were tough at times in the second half, but it’s having the mentality to stay after it until we get the decision.”

The game was tied at 29 with under four minutes to go in the first half when the Wolverines took control.

“We didn’t do it with our defense. We didn’t do it with our rebounding. Our execution offensively was decent the whole game,” McCaffery said. “…But, you know, we got outworked in the second half I thought. That’s unfortunate.”

Roy Devyn Marble led the Hawks with 14 points. Freshman Anthony Clemmons had 12 points and added seven assists as Iowa falls to 0-2 in the Big Ten and 11-4 overall.

“They have so many weapons,” Clemmons said of the Wolverines. “…A word of advice if you’re playing them: get back on defense.”

Glen Robinson III had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Michigan. The guard combination of Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway, Jr. each finished with 19 as the Wolverines improved to 15-0. Iowa plays Michigan State Thursday.
