The Iowa Hawkeyes look for their first Big Ten victory when they host #22 Michigan State. The Hawkeyes are 0-2 in the league race after a lopsided loss at second-ranked Michigan, but coach Fran McCaffery does not consider this next game a must win.

“I don’t think about games that way,” McCaffery says. “We’re going to try to win them all. If we lose, we’re going to try to get better. There’s no other way to approach it.”

McCaffery says the Hawkeyes need to do a better job of getting back on defense to prevent easy baskets.

“I will never get on a guy for not doing something that he maybe isn’t capable of doing,” McCaffrey says. “…But if you’re on a Division I scholarship, you’d better run back on defense, and we didn’t do that.”

Iowa is 11-4 on the season. Michigan State is 1-1 in the Big Ten and 12-3 overall.
