College wrestling’s most successful programs collide on Sunday afternoon in Stillwater, Oklahoma, when #4 Iowa visits #2 Oklahoma State.

The Hawkeyes and the Cowboys have combined for 57 NCAA Championships.

“It’s the two most-storied programs in the history of college wrestling and tradition has been maintained,” says Iowa coach Tom Brands. “It’s not like you’re talking about a decade ago or two deacdes ago and we’re just going to do it for giggles. Both programs are basically competing for the same hardware, along with one or two or three other schools.”

Seven of the matches will feature rated foes, including a 174 pound contest where Iowa sophomore Mike Evans will face top-ranked Chris Perry. Evans beat second-ranked Nick Heflin from Ohio State in overtime last week.

Iowa State has a dual meet at Rutgers this evening, while UNI is at Northern Colorado tonight.
