State troopers found a large quantity of marijuana during a traffic stop Wednesday in southwest Iowa. Iowa State Patrol spokesman Sergeant Scott Bright says it happened on Interstate 80 in Cass County.

Bright says a trooper stopped a vehicle traveling east on I-80 and after talking with the driver, the trooper believed criminal activity was underway. A search of the vehicle was conducted using a drug dog.

After the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, authorities located 363 pounds of marijuana. Bright was not able to provide an estimated street value of the drug. He said the driver indicated to the trooper he was enroute to Minnesota via I-80 and I-35.

The unidentified man was taken into custody and brought to the Cass County Jail in Atlantic.
