The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating an apparent traffic accident, in which a man’s body was found in a burning vehicle.
At about 4:30 am Tuesday, the sheriff got a report of a one-vehicle accident at Echo Road and 180th Street, southwest of Elgin. A pickup, owned by Steven Bilden of rural Elgin, was fully engulfed in flames.
After the fire was put out, authorities found a body in the vehicle. According to the sheriff, the unidentified person is believed to be steven Bilden’s roommate, however, an official identification is still pending an autopsy.
