Two people are charged in what authorities are calling a “murder for hire” plot in the northeast Iowa town of Cresco.

The Cresco Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation say 32-year-old Malissa Farmer and 35-year-old Daniel Padgett were both arrested Monday for allegedly conspiring to kill Malissa’s ex-husband, Richard Farmer.

Malissa Farmer is being charged with solicitation to commit murder. Padgett is being charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Both are being held on a $10,000 dollar bond.
