The actor who’s best known for playing “Chandler” on the NBC sitcom “Friends” is one of the top investors in the new Field of Dreams project in northeast Iowa. Matthew Perry has joined a group that’s investing in the company that owns the Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville.

The project is set to include a youth baseball and softball complex known as All-Star Ballpark Heaven. Denise Stillman is with Go the Distance Baseball, LLC, the company that owns the movie site.

“I think the best is yet to come with Matthew. I think he is going to bring so much creative energy to the team and he’s certainly a presence we haven’t had yet in the Hollywood scene,” Stillman said. Perry currently stars in the NBC sitcom “Go On” as a sports radio talk show host.

Perry’s group of investors includes Hall of Fame baseball player Wade Boggs. In a statement, Perry said: “Field of Dreams has always been one of his favorite movies and having a chance to do to do just about anything with Wade Boggs is a dream come true.”

The movie Field of Dreams, starring Kevin Costner, was released in 1989 and was nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Picture of the Year.”
