A national convention will bring hundreds of people to eastern Iowa next week with the goal of giving rural, single, farm folks the chance to meet each other. Lila Banowetz, of Bellevue, is the national publicity co-chair for the group, Singles in Agriculture.

“It’s going to be March 14th through the 17th at the Clarion Hotel in Cedar Rapids,” Banowetz says. “We will be having a variety of seminars, there will be theater entertainment and dinner and dancing.” Banowetz says the group serves a special purpose.

“The group is a national organization for persons with an agricultural background or an interest in agriculture,” Banowetz says. “It’s also geared toward providing friendships for single rural people, learning opportunities and travel opportunities and of course, lots of fun.”

There are currently about a thousand members in 41 states that belong to Singles in Agriculture. For membership information and to learn more about the convention, visit : www.singlesinagriculture.org
