One person was killed, another injured, in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday in southwest Iowa. Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker said 21-year old Nicolla Emge, of Oakland, died from injuries she suffered during the crash about three miles east of McClelland.

When deputies arrived, they determined a 2002 Ford Taurus had gone out of control and rolled into a ditch. A female in the car, identified as Emge, had been ejected from the vehicle. It’s not clear when the accident occurred.

Emge was flown by helicopter to Creighton University Hospital in Omaha, and she later died. A second person in the car, 21-year old Newberry Wright, also of Oakland, was injured and also flown to Creighton Hospital. Danker says Wright’s injuries were serious, but are not believed to be life threatening.

It’s not clear which person was driving the vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.
