A man charged with robbing a Sioux City bank last November has pleaded guilty in federal court. Twenty-seven-year-old Johnnie Hawkins of Sioux City pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of bank robbery.

Hawkins was charged with robbing the Heritage Bank at 4530 Singing Hills Blvd. of $5,954 dollars. Prosecutors say Hawkins was armed with a loaded and stolen 40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and threatened and physically restrained a bank teller.

A sentencing date has not yet been set, but Hawkins faces a possible maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
