The Central College softball team will open the home season on Saturday and honor three of the school’s four national championship teams. It is the tenth anniversary for the 2003 team, the 20th anniversary for the 1993 squad and the 25th anniversary of the 1988 champs.

Central coach George Wares says they take a great deal of pride in the fact that once you play for the school, you are always connected to the school They have played 25 games so far with none at home and he says everyone is anxious to get in a home game.

Wares coached all four title teams. “One common thing they will always say is as a coaching staff we’ve mellowed and were harder on them than the current team,” Wares says. “But all they have to do is come to some of our practices and see that hasn’t change.”

He says they have been fortunate to have a lot of good players in the program and that is why they have been successful.

Central is 20-5 this season.
