The Iowa State Patrol says an accident on Webster County road southwest of Barnum last night claimed the life of the driver. The name of the victim is 44-year-old David Eugene Hubbard of Moorland.
The State Patrol says Hubbard was driving his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck southbound on the road when the vehicle dropped off the right edge of the roadway. The pickup swerved to the left, crossed the centerline, leaving the roadway and entered the ditch where it struck a utility box.
The vehicle then went airborne and came to rest on its top in the ditch where it caught fire. Hubbard was pronounced dead at the accident scene by authorities.
