A Waterloo man is facing charges that he fled the scene after his car hit a child. Waterloo Police say the victim, an 8-year-old boy, was treated for minor injuries after he walked into a street and was hit by a car on April 8th.

When officers arrived, the vehicle was still at the scene but witnesses said the driver fled on foot. The driver, 31-year-old Justin Varney, was located and arrested this weekend. Police say Varney is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving without a valid license and with probation violations.
