A county in north-central Iowa is featured in a new book that’s all about places around the world that have the name “Hamilton” in them. Tim Brooker of Hamilton, New Zealand, is the author of the book, “Hamiltons of the World,” which includes information about Hamilton County, Iowa, where Webster City is the county seat.

“I was looking for a fundraiser for my local Rotary Club and thought there had to be a way of utilizing the fact there are Hamilton Rotary Clubs all ’round the world,” Brooker says. “At the time I thought of it however, I didn’t realize just how many.”

The search engine Google has proved a monumental help in finding Hamiltons all over the map. They’re on six continents.

Brooker says, “I’ve managed to find 129 different places called Hamilton varying from counties such as yours through cities and townships right down to ghost towns and some Hamiltons in some most unlikely places.”

The book includes information on big cities like Hamilton, the capital city of Bermuda, and Hamilton, Ontario, to small burgs like Hamilton, Virginia. The 236-page book is being sold by Rotary Clubs globally and he’s sold about two-thousand copies, so far. Brookers’ native Hamilton, New Zealand, is about to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
