An eastern Iowa woman is charged with leaving her infant unattended in her car while she attended an exercise class. The Scott County Sheriff’s Department says 27-year-old Amanda Broihier of Bettendorf is charged with one count of child endangerment without injury.

That’s an aggravated misdemeanor. It carries a possible prison sentence of up to two years. The manager of a Davenport fitness center told deputies Broihier had been instructed not to bring her child to class.

Broihier then allegedly began arriving at class late, going out to her car several times during class and leaving class early. An employee saw the child in a car seat in the back seat of Broihier’s car while she attended a 55-minute class. Broihier has been released from the Scott County Jail after posting a $200 bond.
