A newly crowned NCAA champion in the womens 100 hurdles will try to earn a spot in the world championships next week when she competes at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines.

Clemson junior Brianna Rollins set a new record in the preliminary round and the finals at the NCAA meet. Her time was the fastest in the world this year.

“It was unbelievable, but again, I’ve worked so hard this season and I was looking forward to running a fast time,” Rollins says.

Rollins says her goal is to make the U.S. squad that competes in Moscow later this summer.

The U.S. Championships begin next Wednesday in Drake Stadium.
