A bicyclist from the southwest Iowa town of Lenox was hit by a car and killed over the weekend. Around 9:15 Saturday morning 58-year-old Gerald O Williams was riding his bicycle east of Lenox on County Road J-10 when he was hit by a car, driver unknown.

Williams sustained fatal injuries. On Sunday, he was called in as a missing person and volunteers went out searching for him. Williams was located and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the State Medical Examiner. During the investigation, the vehicle, a 2009 Chevy Malibu, was located.

The incident is still under investigation by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office with the help of the Iowa State Patrol.
