Firefighters were called to a home in Cedar Rapids early this morning, one hour after police had been there investigating a domestic incident. Cedar Rapids Police Sergeant Cristy Hamblin says officers were sent to the home, owned by 51-year-old Ken Ngombwa, shortly before midnight.

Ngombwa was involved in an argument with another person in the house, but Hamblin says it was not physical and no arrest was made. Just before 1 a.m., firefighters were sent to the home and extinguished a fire in a bedroom. Much of the home sustained heat and smoke damage, but no one was injured.

Investigators say Ngombwa left the home before firefighters arrived. Ngombwa went the Linn County Jail, where Sheriff Brian Gardner says he was charged with interference with official acts. Hamblin says the domestic incident and fire remain under investigation.
