Jeff Lamb is leaving two teams to become the new softball coach at Clarke University in Dubuque. Lamb spent the past five seasons as the head coach at Marshalltown Community College and he has also been the head coach at Marshalltown High School.

He led the Bobcats to the state tournament in 2012. “it’s tough to leave anyplace, and when you are leaving both of them it’s a lot harder,” Lamb says. He says it will be easier to focus on just one program.

Lamb says he does not plan to coach in the high school ranks and will concentrate on his job at Clarke. He says the town of Dubuque has a lot of interesting things going on and he says being able to coach 4-year athletes is big step up for him.

Lamb believes the Clarke program has a lot of potential. The Crusaders finished this past season with a record of 9-27. He says there is room for growth and they are on the path toward getting there.

Lamb says as with any college job it begins with recruiting as they really will have to get the talent they need to compete in a tough conference.

Clarke finished 3-17 this past season in the midwest collegiate conference.
