Three people escaped a fire that destroyed a home and business in northeast Iowa early this morning. Delhi Assistant Fire Chief Shawn Wilson says crews responded to the fire at Delhi Power Sports at 1:45 a.m. The owners of business lived in the second floor.

“Two adults and one child lived upstairs. They all got out safely,” Wilson says. “Smoke detectors alerted them and they were all out before we got there.” The home and business were gutted. There were also several lawn mowers, motorcycles, and ATVs in the the building.

“The upstairs fell in on the downstairs…it’s a total loss,” Wilson says. It’s not clear what may’ve sparked the fire. Wilson says the State Fire Marshal’s office will investigate the cause of the fire.
