Home prices in Iowa increased again last month, while the number of sales dropped. Figures compiled by the Iowa Association of Realtors (IAR) show the median sale price for a home sold in June was $147,125.

That was up 6.7-percent from June 2012 ($137,900). The median sale price figure has increased year-over-year for 16 consecutive months. IAR president Don Marple credits an increasingly tight inventory of homes for sale. A total of 3,746 homes were sold across the state last month.

That’s down from 4,039 sales in June 2012. Marple noted that year-to-date sales for 2013 are still up 5.5-percent compared to last year.
