Saturday was one of the deadliest single days on Iowa’s roads in several years. Authorities say seven people died in traffic accidents on Saturday, three in one crash.

That collision involved a truck hitting a car in northeast Iowa’s Benton County near Keystone. The victims in the car included a three-year-old and two adults. The truck’s driver, Raule Salazar of Texas, is charged with three counts of homicide by vehicle and drunk driving.

Another crash near Iowa City in Tiffin claimed two lives when a pickup apparently ran a stop sign and hit an SUV. Two other fatal crashes were reported in Warren and Taylor counties. Both people killed were motorcyclists.
