Amanda Bradberry has been named the new head softball coach at Upper Iowa University. The former Iowa State player spent the past season as an assistant coach and replaces Annie Van Wetzinga, who resigned to become the new coach at Metro State in Denver.

“The goal of being a head coach and running your own program should be the goal of every assistant coach,” Wetzinga says. She says she didn’t expect the head coaching job to come this early, but is excited about the opportunity.

Bradberry takes over as program that has made significant strides and finished 28-16 this past season. “We’ve got 14 girls coming back from last year from the best year since moving to division two,” Wetzinga says. She says having players that know the way things are done should make it a good transition.
