A woman who served as chief of staff for Congressman Steve King is now interim chief of staff for Governor Terry Branstad.

Brenna Findley left Congressman King’s staff to run as the Republican nominee for state attorney general in 2010. After Terry Branstad won the governorship that year, he hired Findley as his legal counsel.

Findley will continue to serve as the governor’s top legal advisor as well as the governor’s chief of staff, until a permanent replacement can be found. She replaces Jeff Boeyink. Boeyink served as Branstad’s 2010 campaign manager and then stepped into the role of chief in 2011. He’s taken a job in the private sector.

Findley grew up in Dexter, was home schooled by her mother from eighth grade through high school, graduated from Drake University and got her law degree from the University of Chicago. Findley took a brief leave of absence from King’s staff to work as an interim chief of staff for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s D.C. office. Bachmann helped raise money for Findley’s 2010 campaign for attorney general. She lost to long-time Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller.
