Ranked ninth in the latest NAIA poll, Grand View will be on the road this weekend to face defending national champion Marian of Indiana. The Vikings are 2-0 and have dominated up front. They are averaging 175 yards on the ground per game while giving up only 58.
Vikings coach Mike Woodley says they always focus on stopping the run and making a team one-dimensional. Grand View expects to face a desperate Marian team that has dropped two straight games and stands 1-2 on the season. Woodley says both losses were to quality opponents and they have to know the record doesn’t indicate how good a team they are. He says they have not been able to beat them yet.
Woodley says the Vikings will need to limit mistakes to be successful. “You’ve got to protect the football -take care of it — and hopefully you can get tow to three takeaways from your opponent, Woodley says. He says you have to avoid block punts and things that change momentum.
