Unseasonably warm weather is returning to Iowa today and tomorrow. Kevin Skow is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Today will be the hottest day across Iowa for the next week or so,” Skow says. “We’re looking for highs right around 80 in northeast Iowa, up to around 90 in southwest Iowa. Tomorrow will also be warm, especially for the southeastern half of Iowa.”

Highs on Thursday are expected in the upper 70s in northwest Iowa to near 90 southeast. Skow says a cold front should move into northwest Iowa Thursday and spread across the rest of the state on Friday. “There is a chance for some strong to severe storms across Iowa with the passage of that cold front…and the best chance for severe weather looks to be across the southeastern half of Iowa,” Skow says. Cooler, more seasonable conditions are expected this weekend.

The forecast calls for clear skies and highs in the 70s both Saturday and Sunday.
