Authorities have identified the 77-year-old woman from the town of Badger who died Saturday night in a one-car accident near Humboldt. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Dorothy Lea Larson. Larson was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, 82-year-old Merle Dean Larson also of rural Badger.

Reportedly, the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Merle Larson was traveling northbound on Lone Tree Road when it exited the left side of the roadway, striking a bridge marker sign and then went airborne over a creek bed. The car then struck the north side embankment and then rolled back into the water filled creek where it came to rest on its top.

Dorothy Larson was pronounced dead at the scene. Merle Larson was first taken to the Humboldt County Hospital in Humboldt and then airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines where was listed in stable condition.
