A young man has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a fatal traffic accident two years ago in eastern Iowa. Zachary Swenka was initially charged with vehicular homicide in the October 2011 crash that claimed the life of 14-year-old Mackenzie Lown, a student at Clear Creek Amana.

A report from the Iowa State Patrol claimed Swenka was driving more than 100 miles-an-hour when his vehicle crossed the center line on Highway 6 and ran head-on into a van. Lown was one of 5 passengers in the car.

Swenka, who’s now 20-years-old, pleaded guilty today to involuntary manslaughter. He could now face a sentence of up to five years in prison.
