Halloween goblins may need rain gear

Trick-or-treaters may need to carry an umbrella as they go door to door begging for candy across the state this week. Aubrey Wilkens in a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “It does look like we have a wet beginning to the week in store, with precipitation chances beginning tonight and persisting through Thursday across pretty much the entire state,” Wilkens says.

The rain may be mixed with snow late tonight across portions of northern Iowa. Wilkens says severe weather could strike on Wednesday, when many communities have scheduled “beggar’s night.” The main threat on Wednesday will involve hail, according to Wilkens. A chance of rain remains in the forecast for Thursday, which is Halloween.

High temperatures this week are expected mainly in the 50s, with overnight lows in the upper 30s or 40s.
