State troopers in western Iowa arrested a 25-year-old man who was wanted for murder in Georgia.

On Thursday afternoon the police department in Hapeville, Georgia, contacted the Iowa State Patrol to say a man wanted for murdering a 23-year-old woman there might be crossing the Missouri-Iowa border on Interstate 29. About 20 minutes later troopers saw the suspect’s vehicle northbound on I-29.

Just after five o’clock troopers arrested Courtni Thomas on a spot along I-29 that’s about four miles north of Glenwood. Thomas is from Hapeville, an Atlanta suburb. The woman’s body was found Thursday morning in an apartment in Hapeville.

Thomas is being held in the Mills County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Georgia to face a first degree murder charge.
