The Iowa Department of Pubic Safety has identifed the victim of a house explosion Thursday in rural Gladbrook.  The Tama County Sheriff says the home exploded and burned around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say 72-year-old Mary Louise Applegate was found dead in the debris of the home. Applegate lived at the home with her husband Bruce, who was not home at the time.

DPS says 29-year-old Daniel Dewitt, a heating and cooling repairman, was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals burn unit. The State Fire Marshal’s office is still trying to determine the cause of the explosion.
