The Iowa Hawkeyes took command with an early 18-2 run and clobbered Maryland-Eastern Shore 109-63. Coach Fran McCaffery was looking to get the transition game going. Aaron White led the way with 22 points, Melsahn Basabe added 12 and Jarod Uthoff had 11 points and 11 rebounds as seven Hawkeyes finished in double figures.

McCaffery says the Hawkeyes made good decisions in transition. “You can’t be running the fast break and coughing the ball up. A lot of times if you are coughing it up in transition it is leading to layups for them. so, I thought we did a really good job in terms of when to shoot, when to drive — and like I always say — when to do nothing at all,” McCaffery says.

The Hawkeyes are 3-0 and host Abilene Christian on Sunday.
