Devyn Marble scored 27 points, including 22 in the opening half as the Iowa Hawkeyes posted a 103-41 victory over Abilene Christian. The Hawkeyes wasted little time in taking control with with an early 18-2 run. Marble says they saw tape where Abilene Christian played well early in games and they wanted to send the message that they were going to be physical and take it to them.

Marble had a big scoring outing after coach Fran McCaffery moved him from the point to the off guard spot. “He wanted me to be more aggressive, to look to score on teh wing and get out in transition and finding guys — still being a playmaker, but just doing it from the wing position,” Marble says.

Iowa had 25 assists and only five turnovers in the game. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says they were concerned about the three-point shooting and he says pressure defense helped establish the early pace. He says they created some offense with their defense and got them out of sync.

Peter Jok had 15 points, Gabe Olaseni and Zach McCabe each had ten as the Hawkeyes improved to 4-0.
