The St. Ambrose football team is headed back to the NAIA playoffs and will open on the road this weekend at top ranked Cumberlands of Kentucky. St. Ambrose coach Mike Magistrelli says at this point of the season every opponent is tough. He says they deserved the top ranking, but says they have played a number of good opponents throughout the season.

The key for the Fighting Bees will be slowing down a Cumberlands veer offense that is averaging 357 yards of rushing per game. Magistrelli says they do an outstanding job of running that offense and have great athletes that present a great challenge.

Magistrelli says they want to force the Cumberlands offense into obvious passing downs. “They want to line up and run the football and keep a pace of 3 and 4 yards a play,” Magistrelli says.

St. Ambrose is 7-3.
