The UNI women’s basketball team may face their toughest test of the season tonight as the Panthers visit #20 Iowa State. The Panthers have suffered through some very cold streaks, and are shooting just 31 percent from the field for the season. UNI has shot better than 40 percent in just one game, but Panther coach Tanya Warren says her team is executing well.

Iowa State is led by senior forward Hallie Christopherson, who is averaging 24 points and eight rebounds through the Cyclones’ first six games. Warren says she’s very impressed by Christopherson’s game.

The Panthers and the Cyclones will tip off at 7:00 tonight in Ames.

Hawkeye women ranked

With a new national ranking the Iowa Hawkeye women take an 8-1 record into Thursday night’s matchup at home against Syracuse in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

The Hawks won three straight games at the Cancun Challenge last week and what they may lack in depth they are making up with balance.

Coach Lisa Bluder says there still areas that need improvement.  Iowa enter the AP poll this week at number 25.
