One person was killed in a crash near New Sharon in southeast Iowa on Thursday afternoon. According to a state patrol crash report, a 1996 Chevy K1500 pickup truck driven by a 14-year-old Searsboro minor attempted to turn off of highway 63 and onto a residential driveway.

As the vehicle turned, it came into the path of a 1999 Ford Escort, driven by 27-year-old Kassandra Ford of Oskaloosa. The 14-year-old was injured in the accident and transported by ambulance to Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. Ford was injured in the accident and transported via Mercy Air Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

A passenger in her car was killed in the accident. The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of family. The crash report states that due to a hill crest in the area, limited sight distance may have contributed to the accident.
