Genesis Health System is planning a major construction and renovation project at its Davenport hospital. Genesis calls the $138.5 million project at Genesis Medical Center one of the largest financial investments in Quad-Cities’ history.

The highlight is the construction of a seven-story tower. The tower will contain 12 surgical suites, three floors of inpatient beds and an expanded emergency department. In addition, existing departments will be renovated and relocated to make room for the tower. Genesis Health System president and CEO Doug Cropper says the project is one of the best ways they can improve quality, safety and efficiency. It is scheduled to be completed in late 2017.
