A late rally by the Iowa Hawkeye women came up short as they lost at Indiana 86-84 in their Big Ten opener. The Hawkeyes trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half. “First of all we shouldn’t be getting ourselves down by 12 points. We came out with a very lackluster start to this game,” Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said. She said a lack of rebounding was a major factor. She said they are not crashing the boards very well or boxing out and she said she’s disappointed in the defensive effort of the team.

The Hawkeyes return to action on Sunday by hosting defending Big Ten champion Penn State. Bluder says Penn State is the highest ranked team in the conference and they need a good performance to get a game back in the conference standings.

Samantha Logic led the Hawkeyes with 25 points as they fall to 12-3. Indiana is 14-0.
