An arrest has been made in a 31-year-old double homicide case in central Iowa’s Jasper County. Sheriff John Halferty says 53-year-old Theresa “Terri” Supino was taken into custody at her Altoona home this morning. She’s facing two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths 20-year-old Steven Fisher and 17-year-old Melisa Gregory.

The two victims had been dating for several months. Their bodies were found on March 3, 1983 at the Copper Dollar Horse Ranch northwest of Newton. Fisher worked there. He and Supino were married at the time, but separated, and had two children. Supino is being held in the Jasper County Jail on a $400,000 bond.

Sheriff Halferty says today’s arrest does not end the investigation. He declined to provide information on what prompted the charges to finally be filed. Halferty said in to assure Supino receives a fair trial, he would not be making any additional comments about the case at this time.
