The UNI wrestling team may have lost two All Americans off of this year’s team, but the cupboard is far from bare for coach Doug Schwab. The Panthers return four of their seven national qualifiers including Dylan Peters, who took sixth place at 125 pounds as a freshman. “The thing about Dylan is he’s very coachable, he listens and he is going to continue to improve,” Schwab says.

Schwab says that while Peters came out of high school with a lot of potential, you just never know what you might get out of a freshman. He says they knew what he was capable of, but saying he would pin 18 guys and do well in the national tournament was not a given.

According to Schwab, the Panthers now have to determine who will step into the positions that had been occupied by departing national qualifiers Joe Colon, Joey Lazor, and Ryan Loder. “To step in at what level though, that’s a whole other thing,” Schwab says.

The Panthers finished undefeated in duals this past season.
