Fans at the Shrine Circus in Sioux City got more than they expected when motorcycle rider Ben Venya’s cycle went out of control during an aerial jump Tuesday. Venya says it happened during a trick where he jumps and lets go of the handle bars. He says it landed a little bit long and he did not have room to brake, so the forward momentum carried him into the wall.
The Las Vegas native was treated by paramedics after the crash and later was checked at the hospital. He escaped any major injuries. “I feel good, I just hit my head — a little silly. But I wear a helmet and knee pads, and all my safety gear saved me,” Venya says.
Venya had been riding professionally for 10 years and started racing motorcycles when he was 16.
