The victim of a weekend homicide in Iowa’s capital city has been identified. Police say 57-year-old Juanita Lagrone was found dead in her home on Des Moines’ east side Sunday afternoon. She was discovered unresponsive on the floor of the home by her daughter.
Although an official cause of death has not been determined, police say it appeared Lagrone was beaten to death. A baseball bat was recovered from the scene. No suspects have been identified. It marks Des Moines’ first homicide of 2014.
