A police officer is south-central Iowa has only minor injuries after an usual and frightening incident during a traffic stop. The whole thing was captured on the dashboard camera inside Centerville Police Officer Jeremy Veach’s squad car.

Veach had pulled over an SUV late Wednesday night and went to talk with the driver when a large tree fell on top of him and the SUV. Veach was knocked to ground. Centerville Police Chief Tom Demry told the local newspaper, the Daily Iowegian, that Veach will be O.K. and he’s fortunate that the SUV took the brunt of the rotted-out tree.

The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. She had been pulled over because her headlights were not on. She was not issued a citation. Demry called it a “freak of nature” accident, as there were not strong winds in the area at the time.
