The task force that’s been working on proposed changes to Veishea at Iowa State University has completed its work. The task force was formed after this year’s seven-day Veishea celebration was cut short by violence on April 9.

ISU President Steven Leath canceled all remaining Veishea activities after students flipped over cars, ripped out street signs, knocked over light poles, and threw rocks and beer cans at police in the Campustown area of Ames. The 19-member task force has delivered its final report to Leath, who will now decide what happens next.

One suggestion from the task force already made public involved changing the name of the event. Veishea has been a spring-time tradition on the ISU campus since 1922.
